Division of Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergy

The Division of Rheumatology has a long tradition of exceptional patient care, education and research and we provide comprehensive subspecialty services for patients with a broad range of rheumatic disease.

Patient Care

Our doctors have expertise in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of rheumatic diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, sarcoidosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, gout, dermatomyositis, inflammatory muscle disease, and various forms of vasculitis. See a full list of conditions we treat.

Because rheumatic diseases are complex and can often affect multiple organ systems, the division works closely with other MedStar Georgetown subspecialists to provide expert consultation and state-of-the-art approaches to patient management.

Research

An important facet of divisional activity is an exceptional program of basic, translational, and clinical research directed at understanding fundamental disease mechanisms as well as exploring new approaches to diagnosis and treatment. We have many collaborative links with other programs in the School of Medicine. See a full list of our clinical research.
